Brief Introduction
The Department of Medical Biophysics is one of the eminent departments in the Medical Research Institute. The department offers opportunities for research – leading to the Diploma of Medical Biophysics, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees – in a variety of medical and biological problems; projects which cut across the conventional boundaries of physics, engineering, chemistry, biology, and medicine are encouraged. The department emphasizes basic and applied research related to cancer. Projects include the following areas: bioimpedance, radiobiology, dielectrophoresis, , sonodynamic therapy, photodynamic therapy, nanomedicine, membrane function, molecular interactions, gene expression, cell tapping , cell differentiation, spectroscopy, the physics of radiation therapy and diagnostic imaging, development of imaging systems involving ultrasound, laser, bioimpedance, nuclear magnetic resonance, and electron optics.
