Alexandria Medical Research Institute(MRI)

Brief Introduction

The department was established in 1967. It is the only department that provides genetic services to the residents of Alexandria and the near by governorate. It has a genetic clinic, a cytogenetic laboratory which provides chromosome analysis and prenatal diagnosis, a biochemical laboratory for screening of inborn errors of metabolism and a molecular laboratory for molecular diagnosis of genetic diseases. The department offers genetic counseling for all our patients.

Participation in scientific research in cooperation with other departments of the Medical Research Institute
Teaching activities include teaching students applying for MSc and PhD in Human Genetics.
