anaesthesia

Brief Introduction

Anaesthesia department established in 1963 by professor Mohamed Ramadan (16 beds /hospital), in1970 hospital beds increased to 240. In the near future, it will be 300 beds.
Anaesthesia department strategy for research 2007-2008 include: perioperative pain management, chronic pain management fast track anaesthesia, and recent advances in hepatobiliary anaesthesia.
Residents and Clinical Fellows are enrolled in the following training

  1. Anaesthetic practice for oncology, GIT, vascular, fast track surgery, head and neck, endoscopy and dentistry.
  2. ICU
  3. Pain assessment and management

Vision

The anasethesia department aims to assume aleading role in providing standardized science-based solutions for management of pain and surgical heath problems whether in the operating room, pain clinic or the surgical intensive care unit by innovative integration of intensive care unit by innovative integration of international research, creative education and best possible clinical in a way which serves our communtity .

  • Case discussion and anaesthesia audit on Wednesday every 3 weeks

  • Researches include: Perioperative pain management, chronic pain management, fast track anaesthesia, and recent advances in hepatobiliary anaesthesia and others; Anaesthesia and immunity, metabolism and respiratory care
  • Services: Our main concern is patient safety and the provision of good quality anaesthesia which is evidence based.
