ULTRASOUND IN CHRONIC PAIN MEDICINE WORKSHOP
(Preliminary program)
This
is a 1-Day intensive ultrasound workshop offered to physicians who wish
to learn Ultrasound guided nerve procedures and neuroaxial block. At
the end of this introductory course, participants would have acquired a
thorough knowledge of ultrasound imaging and needling techniques for
several pain management procedures.
PREREQUISITE
Prior
experience with some basic neuroaxial and regional nerve block
procedures and ultrasound-guided technical skills is an asset but not
mandatory.
DESCRIPT-xION
The
course will cover a number of selected nerve block procedures for pain
management involving neuraxial, peripheral nerve and soft tissue
structures, they are:
1. Cervical, thoracic, lumbar epidural imaging and injection.
2. Cervical sympathetic (stellate ganglion) block.
3. Caudal spine imaging and injection.
4. Celiac plexus block.
5. Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve block.
6. Ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric nerve injection.
7. Paravertebral imaging and injection
8. Suprascapular nerve injection.
This ultrasound course will include:
1. Basic ultrasound principles.
2. Interactive lectures with scanning demonstration on live models.
3. Hands on practice sessions.
4. Ultrasound guided needle insertion practice on phantoms.
5. Knowledge assessment (theory and practical components).
6. Questions and answers will be held at the end of the scientific program and before practical hands on.
