Medical equipment repairers, often called
biomedical equipment technicians, work on medical equipment such as
defibrillators, heart monitors, medical imaging equipment (x-ray machine, ct
scanners and ultrasound), and electric wheelchairs. The students usually study
the theoretical basis during their undergraduate study program. They never
receive any practical skills due to absence of specialized training unit/ sine
repairing medical; equipments require high level of staff and attention to
details. Our project aimed to establish a specialized training program. Both
undergraduates and postgraduate technicians received special training on basics
of medical equipment maintenance and repair This project proposed a training
team of staff members, engineers and technicians, as well as constructing three
laboratories equipped with training equipment such as medical and laboratory
equipment, audio-visual aids along with preparing mechanical and electronic
workshops, as well as providing training courses and a variety of workshops in
the equipment service field. Training of 578 technicians and engineer has been
done, along with the implementation of a number of lectures in the field of
equipment services, and student training in the equipment service department in
the medical technical institute in Alexandria
