INTRODUCTION
Nanoparticle research is currently an area of intense scientific interest due to a wide variety of potential applications in biomedical, optical and electronic fields. Silver nanoparticles have a great application in medicine. In this workshop, we will introduce the methodology of preparing silver colloid and silver nanoparticles. Nanoparticles have at least one dimension between 7 and 100 nanometers. Silver colloid and nanoparticles have different sizes; they will be visualized by transmission electron microscope to make a comparison between their shape and size.
OBJECTIVES
The intended audience is students and researchers with expertise interest in their field of research using electron microscope. The goal of this workshop is to prepare both silver colloid and silver nanoparticles. In addition of visualize and determining their sizes. Topics also cover the fundamental electron microscope construction including the illumination system, electron lenses and their aberrations, image formation and resolution.
