The First Training Course on Laboratory Hematology:

Day 1:

Lectures:

1-               Interpretation of CBC

2-               Diagnostic approach to anemia

3-               Red blood cell morphology

Practical:

1-               Slides microscope for various RBCs morphology

 

Day 2:

Lectures:

1-              Automated cell counters (principles & histograms).

2-              Screening tests for hemolytic anemia

Practical:

1-              Coomb’s test

2-              G6PD assay

3-              Reliculocyte stain

4-              Sickle test

5-              Osmotic fragility

 

Day 3:

Lectures:

1-               Normal granulopoiesis & Lymphopoiesis

2-               Quantitative & qualitative WBCs abnormalities lab experiments

Practical:

1-              Slides microscope for mature and immature WBCs. Quantitative & Qualitative leucocytes abnormalities

 

 Day 4:

Lectures:

1-              Erythropoiesis (Normoblastic & Megaloblastic)

2-              Cytopenias and hypersplenism

3-               Differentiation between similar morphological cells

Practical:

1-               Slides microscope of normal Erythroid series

2-              Slides microscope of Megloblastic anemias

3-        Slides microscope of Dyserythropoiesis

 

 Day 5:

Lectures:

1-               Introduction to leukemias & cytochemistry (classification & identification) 

2-               Chronic Myeloproliferative disorders. (CMPD)

3-               Leukomoid blood Reaction

Practical:

1-               Microscopic slides of  : CML, PV, ET &MF

2-               Leukomoid blood Reaction

3-              Leukocyte Alkaline Phosphatase cytochemistry . (LAP score)

 

Day 6:

Lectures:

1-               Chronic Lymphoprpliferative Disorders. (CLPD)

2-               Disseminated Lymphoma (DL)

Practical:

1-               Slides microscope for CLL, CLL/ PLL, PLL, MM, HCL and DL

 

Day 7:

Lectures:

1-                Acute Leukemias (FAB classification)

2-                Cytochemistry & Immunophenotyping of AL

3-                Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia ALL

Practical:

1-                Slides microscope for ALL (L1, L2 &L3)

 

 Day 8:

Lectures:

1-                FAB classification of AML 

2-                Cytochemistry & Immunophenotyping of AML

Practical:

1-                 Slides microscope for (M1     M7)

 

Day 9:

Lectures:

1-                 Infectious mononucleosis

2-                 Blood parasites

3-                 Abnormal cells & LE cells

Practical:

1-                 Slides microscope for IMN, LE cells, Malaria, Leishmania, filaria, Gaucher cells, Nemesis pick, Osteoblasts, megakaryocytes & metastasis

 

Day 10:

Lectures:

1-                    Hemostasis & Hemostatic disorders

2-                    Megakaryopoiesis & platelets

3-                    Coagulation & fibrolysis

4-                    Vascular abnormalities

Practical:

1-                   Platelets count

2-                   Bleeding time

3-                   PT & INR

4-                   PTT

5-                   Slides microscope for ITP, DIC and thrombocytosis

 The Second Training Course on Laboratory Hematology:
